Big blow for Hotel Transylvania franchise

Despite helping it achieve amazing results at the box office on the weekend, “Hotel Transylvania 2” director Genndy Tartakovsky says he won’t be signing up for thirds.

Sigh.

The visionary animator, who helmed both “Hotel” films, is turning his attention to other works – which is understandable.

“‘Hotel Transylvania 3’ is going to happen without me. Two is enough”, says the filmmaker in an interview with The L.A Times. “I have a lot of other ideas, and I kind of have to express them and have them come out.”

With “Hotel Transylvania 2” making $48 million in it’s opening weekend, there’s little doubt that Sony Animation will do a third film in the series.

Speaking of, having heard what a big fan of the series little Charisma Morris (our editor’s daughter) was Tartakovsky sent over a box of “Hotel Transylvania 2” goodies to the little lady. He also autographed and drew a little cartoon for Charisma on a poster. Very nice gesture!

Come to Westworld for some reverse cowgirl!?
