24 Movie to Begin Filming in the Spring

Looks like the “24” movie is officially on! Deadline is reporting that a “24” movie, based on the popular FOX TV series that ran from 2001-2010, will begin filming in April 2012. Color me surprised; anyone actually expect this would get beyond the ‘fodder’ stage!?

Mark Bomback — a favorite at 20th Century Fox; he wrote “Live Free or Die Hard” and “Unstoppable” and is now writing “The Wolverine” and “Shadow Divers” – will turn in his draft by year’s end, says the site.

At one point back in 2010, “Unstoppable” director Tony Scott was attached to direct the “24” film, but he’s no longer onboard. Imagine Entertainment have five other directors in mind.

As we all know by now, Sutherland’s long been attached to the film. At the beginning of the year, Sutherland spoke to Extra and told them, “we won’t start shooting for about eight months”, the actor said.

At the time, he continued by saying, “It’s a very difficult thing to take something that you’ve done for eight years, almost 200 episodes, and try and find a story that’s going to be unique and yet service the history of the show as well. That is to be expected. So we start shooting hopefully by next December or January.”

Not that we ever expected it to happen, but hey! Close enough start date prediction!. The goal is to get the film into production to match Sutherland’s availability, which begins in April.
