Ashton "Knight" do it

Serves me right for hacking on poor Davey Hasseloff. Now it looks like we’ll be seeing Ashton Kutcher – fresh from the Brittany Murphy’s sheets – steering K.I.T.T in the "Knight Rider" film. At least, that’s the story going round the traps. Apparently, Revolution Studios – who are making the film, which Hasselhoff will produce, or co.-star or be making the popcorn for the crew on – are looking to target a younger audience and obviously think goofy "That 70’s show" star Ashton Kutcher could be the one to bring em’ in.

Ok, I’m not complaining too much. At least, he looks a "little" like the Michael Knight of the 80’s and has reasonable screen presence, as evidenced in the recent [and surprisingly good] "Just Married". And hey, it’s better than the first name that got branded about for this movie -Vin Diesel. Can you see it? shiny-glossed Diesel driving K.I.T.T? it just wouldn’t be the same.

But apparently Kutcher’s merely "thinking about it" at the moment, as FilmForce tipped us off to today.

Last week we passed along a report from the usually reliable 4Filmmakers.com claiming that Ashton Kutcher (That ’70s Show, Dude, Where’s My Car?, Just Married) could be starring in the forthcoming big-screen adaptation of Knight Rider. That’s still the case, but we’ve got a bit more to add to the story today.

A spokesperson for Kutcher tells IGN FilmForce that the Knight Rider thing isn’t even close to a done deal. "It’s a possibility, but that’s all," the spokesperson said. "It might be something… an idea he’s interested in – and it would be a good thing – but there’s no script. He hasn’t even seen a script."

Sony-based Revolution Studios is giving the ’80s TV show concept an "overhaul" in order to target "young, action-oriented moviegoers."

Watch this space, I guess, if only to hear of possible fist-fights between David Hasselhoff and the star that gets picked to replace him for the movie.
