Ask A Celeb : Adam Scott’s Answers!

From “The Return”, “Ratatouille” and “Knocked Up”

“Monster-In-Law”, “Torque”, “High Crimes”, “Art School Confidential”, “The Aviator”, “The Matador”, “The Return” – just a few films that feature rising young actor Adam Scott. His next film is Brad Bird’s highly-anticipated “Ratatouille”, then you’ll spot him in “Knocked Up” and after that, he’ll be seen opposite the Hanks’ boys (Tom and Colin) in “The Great Buck Howard”. YOU had the chance to ask him about those films… and more… in our ongoing ‘Ask a Celeb’ feature.

From Kevin Linke, New Mexico. My question is this: You’ve worked with such wonderful directors as Martin Scorsese and comedy newcomer Judd Apatow. But whom would you love to work with now that you are getting able to select material based on people that you admire?
Adam : I love Steven Soderbergh, Francis Coppola, Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Mann, the usual… My current favorite director is Steve Buscemi–Tree’s Lounge has been a favorite for years, and Lonesome Jim was one of my favorites from last year, he’s a remarkable filmmaker. Would jump at the chance to work with any of them, but in the meantime, will be content awaiting their next releases.

From Terry, Ballarat : How did it REALLY feel to dress up in women’s clothing (in “Monster-In-Law”?)
Adam : Liberating. Especially when it’s Jane Fonda’s clothing. Because of Stanley & Iris.

From NeptuneNerd : Hey, How did you get involved in “Veronica Mars”? Was it fun?
Adam : Rob Thomas the creator/exec producer is a friend of mine, as well as Dan Etheridge, one of the producers. They were nice enough to ask me to do an episode, and I happily obliged. Great show.

From Roger Crest, Albany : Hi Adam. Love you work. “The Aviator” was great. Was that a daunting experience working with those heavyweights?
Adam : Thank you Roger. Was it daunting? Does Laura Bush shit in the woods? Being on a movie set with Martin Scorsese is one of the proudest moments of my life–he is the reason I pursued acting in the first place, as he is for so many…working for him was a great honor, and I still can’t believe I’m in one of his films.

From Tina, Georgetown : I am a huge fan of Colin Hanks. I hear you’re working with him at the moment on “The Great Buck Howard”. Can you tell me how it’s going? Who else is in it? I can’t wait for this movie!
Adam : We shot that last summer/fall–it was a lot of fun–my scenes are with Colin and John Malkovich. The movie also features Tom Hanks and Emily Blunt. It should be out this year sometime.

From Trevor Herrington, Dubbo : How does it feel to be part of the “Star Trek” legacy? Dude, you should so go to conventions and MILK that baby!
Adam : Well, I’m in that movie for like seconds, 10 years ago. Is that convention-worthy…?

From Father Marmalade : How did you get your first acting role?
Adam : I auditioned for a guest spot on a pilot for MTV called “Dead At 21”, and that was it. I’ve been hugely famous and flush with cash ever since.

From Chris, Point Cook : What’s your worst film experience?
Adam : I was on an indie film in the middle of winter in New England, and production ran out of money and food, so for dinner we got cold noodles with butter. Also, everyone died.

From Marnie R. : I heard that you were originally going to play ‘Aaron’ on “Wonderfalls”. What happened there?
Adam : I got hired for The Aviator, and had to make a choice. Todd Holland and Bryan Fuller are really cool, and that show was great, wish I could have done both.

From D.F : What is “Tell Me You Love Me”?
Adam : An HBO drama series. We just finished shooting the first season, it will be premiering later this year, it’s quite a show, may freak some people out, can’t wait for people to see it.

From Dominic : How did you enjoy working on “The Matador”? How did you get the role?
Adam : Auditioned for Richard Shepard– loved working on it, lot of fun in Mexico City.

From MissJones : Did you get to meet Pierce Brosnan?
Adam : Certainly did–great guy. My wife was particularly excited to meet him. What is that about?

From Terry O’Day : You have a lead role in “Teds MBA”, I see. Is that coming out soon?
Adam : I have no idea. Shot in fall of 05 in PA, with Breckin Meyer.

From Ben : “Ratatouille”, what can you tell me about it? Who do you play?
Adam : Can’t say much, but loved meeting and working with Brad Bird. He’s a stud. How fucking great is “The Incredibles”?

From Agent Smurf, Essendon : How did you find working with Guy Pearce on “First Snow” and Peter O’Brien in “The Return” They are local legends around these parts.
Adam : Peter is really cool, great actor, we had fun in Austin TX where we shot The Return. He can drink better than me. Working with Guy was great as well, such an interesting actor, we just did one scene, but I feel like we did something worthwhile–I hear that movie is really good, I haven’t seen it yet.

From SlayerFan : Did you get along well with Sarah Michelle Gellar, or did you have to stay in character?
Adam : We got along very well, were both obsessed with reality TV at the time, American Idol in particular. I think I beat her in sheer volume of reality TV watched per week, but probably b/c she had more work to do than me. I’ve cut down since.

From Ray, Cobram : What’s your upcoming movies Adam, and will there be a “Torque 2”?
Adam : I wish. That movie is fucking awesome.

From Wesley F. : Adam, Thought you were great on “Veronica Mars”. Would you work with Kristen Bell again?
Adam : Of course. She’s sweet, great on that show.
