Bond 22 to go down Abbie Road?

“Somersault” and “A Good Year” star for Bond babe?

I didn’t think her star was shining that bright just yet – amazing what a couple of tabloid reports linking you to the break-up of a high-power celebrity couple, can do for one’s career – but according to New Idea magazine, I’ve underestimated young Abbie Cornish’s climb to the top.

The Australian beauty – best known here for her role in the AFI winning “Sommersault”; best known there for her role in “A Good Year” with Russell Crowe – has been flown to Singapore to talk about a role in the next James Bond movie.

An unnamed source – probably her publicist, these ‘sources’ usually are – tells the magazine that Cornish has made it on the short list to play the female lead in the next 007 movie.

I wouldn’t put too much stock into this one. Yeah, she may have scored an audition, but it’s way too early in the game to be adding her name to the IMDB credit list of ‘Bond 22’ just yet. No offence to Cornish either, I love the girl – she’s down to earth, polite and most importantly, talented. I haven’t talked to her for a spell, but she was always a fair dinkum gal. Good luck to her.
