Cage and Jovovich in talks for Expendables 3

Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich look to join Sylvester Stallone and co. in the next “Expendables” movie, studio CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts this morning, says Deadline.

Cage and Jovovich were mentioned along with the previously-mooted Jackie Chan and Wesley Snipes as being in “advanced negotiations” to help fill the cast of the Patrick Hughes-directed sequel, which begins production in August.

While Cage has been linked to the “Expendables” franchise before (he was reportedly up for a role in the last film; not sure what happened there), this is the first time we’ve heard Jovovich’s name associated with the series. Makes sense though, Sly had mentioned on Twitter recently that he was looking for a young, Sigourney Weaver-type to fill a female part in the movie, plus Jovovich has made a name for herself as somewhat of a dependable action heroine thanks to the unyielding “Resident Evil” movies.

Both Chan and Snipes, two vets of the biffo genre, are names Stallone has wanted for a while now (Snipes, of course, had to be released from jail first before his involvement would swim into the river of possibility). The actor confirmed both on his Twitter recently; he had also mentioned the possibility of Steven Seagal and Antonio Banderas joining the gang, but hasn’t followed up with confirmations of either yet.

While there’s no word on whether Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will reprise their ‘guest’ roles for “Expendables 3”, it’s a sure thing that Stallone will be united with Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke (who skipped the last one, but is reprising his ‘Tool’ for the third) and Randy Couture for the film.
