Carrey, O’Dowd doing dramas next

Something different (and deeper) for funnymen Jim Carrey and Chris O’Dowd coming up.

Firstly, Carrey is a lock to headline the indie drama “True Crimes” for Alexandros Avranas. Based on an article printed in The New Yorker, the movie follows a series of murders that seemed to be linked to a popular book. Brett Ratner is one of the producers on the project.

Meanwhile, Chris O’Dowd (“Moone Boy”) is joining Julianne Moore in Fox Searchlight’s “Can You Ever Forgive Me”. Nicole Holofcener is adapting the script about a well-esteemed biographer who fell on hard times and was forced to make rent by counterfeiting letters of dead writers and celebs. Kidman plays the writer.
