Casting: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Training Day, 24: Legacy, Greer

Tommy Flanagan has joined Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, David Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Pom Klementieff in the cast of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Flanagan will play a Ravager: “I’m told Flanagan is playing the right hand man of Yondu Udonta, the leader of The Ravagers… Sources also tell me that in the sequel, The Ravagers have a bounty out on Rocket Raccoon which causes conflict within the group.”

James Gunn is returning to direct the film which will open on May 5, 2017.

 

 

Bill Paxton will star in CBS’ “Training Day” pilot, a TV sequel to the 2001 film starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke

Paxton will play Frank Rourke, a veteran LAPD cop who leads the Special Investigation Section, reports Variety:

“Paxton’s character “lives by the law of the jungle” and isn’t too happy about being appointed mentor to a new trainee, Kyle Craig, who’s still uncast. Meanwhile, the young African-American police officer struggles to get along with his commanding officer.”

The TV sequel will be a reimagining of the original that picks up 15 years after the events of the film. Danny Cannon will direct the pilot, from a script by Will Beall.

 

 

Jimmy Smits (“Sons Of Anarchy”) has landed a lead role in Fox’s “24: Legacy” pilot.

According to Variety, Smits will play John Donovan, “a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations, who is married to Rebecca (Miranda Otto), the blazing smart former head of CTU.”

Corey Hawkins and Teddy Sears are also in the cast.

 

 

Judy Greer will headline an untitled workplace comedy pilot from Fox and scribe Laura Steinel.

“The comedy will center around Jane (Greer), who is stuck between managing her human resources department as well as the new CEO, who harbors big ambitions for the New Jersey plastics plant” – via Variety.
