Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are in talks to star in a half-hour dark comedy series from director Cary Fukunaga.

The Paramount TV and Anonymous Content show, titled “Maniac”, is “based on the 2014 Norwegian series about a guy who lives a fantasy life in his dreams but in reality is locked up at an institution” (via Deadline).

Hill and Stone will both play patients in the institution.

The show still doesn’t have a writer or network attached.

Netflix has greenlit a new comedy series with Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant attached to star.

Titled “Santa Clarita Diet”, the series comes from writer Victor Fresco and will premiere in 2017.

In the single-camera series, Joel (Timothy Olyphant, Justified) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore, Blended) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending both their lives down a road of death and destruction…but in a good way.

Naomi Watts and Jessica Lange will star in indie drama “The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll”, an adaptation of Jean Nathan’s book.

Gia Coppola is directing from Merritt Johnson’s script.

In 1957, a children’s book called The Lonely Doll was published. With its pink-and-white-checked cover and photographs featuring a wide-eyed doll, it captured the imaginations of young girls and made the author, Dare Wright, a household name. Close to forty years after its publication, the book was out of print but not forgotten. When the cover image inexplicably came to journalist Jean Nathan one afternoon, she went in search of the book–and ultimately its author. Nathan found Dare Wright living out her last days in a decrepit public hospital in Queens, New York. Over the next five years, Nathan pieced together Dare Wright’s bizarre life of glamour and painful isolation to create this mesmerizing biography of a woman who struggled to escape the imprisonment of her childhood through her art.
