Casting: Brolin, American Pastoral, Agents of SHIELD, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Colossal, Ward, Sagal, Zane, Coates, Tveit

Josh Brolin is set to narrate motocross documentary “Unchained: The Untold Story of Freestyle Motocross”.

Brolin will also exec produce the project about the birth and boom of Freestyle Motocross (FMX).

Paul Taublieb wrote, directed and produced the project with co-director and co-producer Jon Freeman.

 

 

Rupert Evans has joined Ewan McGregor, Uzo Aduba, David Strathairn, Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning in “American Pastoral”.

Production is currently underway in Pittsburgh with McGregor starring and directing.

“American Pastoral” is based on Philip Roth’s novel about Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. But his seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by committing a deadly act of terrorism during the Vietnam War.

Evans is on board to play the younger brother of McGregor’s character.

 

 

Powers Boothe has nabbed a recurring role on the currently-airing third season of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD”.

The “Sin City” actor will play Gideon Malick, “a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery”.

“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” airs Tuesdays at 9 PM EST on ABC.

 

 

Nick Offerman will guest star on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” as Frederick, the ex-boyfriend of Andre Braugher’s Captain Holt.

According to EW, “details are few, but we do know that the episode, titled “Ava,” takes place on Thanksgiving Day, and that Frederick crosses paths again with Holt in a story line that involves Sharon (Merrin Dungey), who is the wife of Terry (Terry Crews), giving birth to their third child.”

 

 

Austin Stowell (“Bridge of Spies”) will play Anne Hathaway’s love interest in fantasy flick “Colossal”.

Nacho Vigalondo is directing from his own script about “an ordinary woman (Hathaway) who discovers she has a connection to a series of attacks by a giant lizard and a robot in Tokyo, and she needs to find out why she is the only person who can stop it” (via Deadline).

Production will kick off in Vancouver next week.

 

 

Sela Ward has replaced Susan Sarandon as the female lead on Epix’s  political comedy “Graves”.

Nick Nolte stars in the show as a former U.S. president worried that he did more harm than good during his White House tenure.

 

 

McNally Sagal (“Sons of Anarchy”) has landed a recurring guest starring role on the second season of ABC’s anthology crime series “Secrets and Lies.”

The second season will centre on Eric Warner (played by Michael Ealy), a private equity firm heir who recently murdered wife (Jordana Brewster).

Sagal will play May, who has been John Warnerthe’s (Terry O’Quinn) executive assistant for over 20 years. May started working for Eric as he rose through the ranks of the company. She considers the Warners family, and was so happy for Eric when he finally met his wife. As their confidante and partner, May has kept the Warners’ secrets through the years — until this untimely death starts to bring those secrets out.

 

 

Billy Zane and Kim Coates have been cast in family movie “The Adventure Club”.

Geoff Anderson is directing the film from a screenplay by Fred Ewanuick and Robin Dunne.

Production is currently underway in Canada on the film which follows a group of young friends who form the Adventure Club after finding a mysterious puzzle box.

 

 

Aaron Tveit has joined CBS’ upcoming comic-thriller “BrainDead”.

Set in Washington, D.C, Tveit will play Gareth, “the legislative director to a top Republican senator whose wit is only trumped by his pragmatism.”

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also on board to star as “a fresh-faced Hill staffer whose first job in D.C. leads her to discover two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers” (via Variety).

“Brain Dead” comes from “The Good Wife” creators Robert and Michelle King. The show received a straight-to-series order with 13 episodes due to hit TV next summer.
