Dolph Lundgren to star in new TV series Rescue 3

Dolph Lundgren’s muscles will be modified to fit your screen.

The “Expendables” and “Universal Soldier” star is reuniting with Emmett/Furla – producers of “The Expendables” franchise, among others – for a new small-screen TV series set to premiere Fall 2013 via Tribune. The action adventure drama “Rescue 3” will, not unlike Aussie TV classic “Police Rescue”, fix on an elite group of law-enforcement heroes helping save folks from the most grave of situations each and every week.

“Rescue 3”, says Deadline, “centers on Southern California’s elite multi-agency task force Rescue 3, which consists of the cream-of-the-crop from Los Angeles Lifeguard, Firefighter and Coast Guard agencies. Each episode will center on big-action rescues involving all three services. Lundgren will play Captain John Mathews, a reluctant hero and career firefighter and lifeguard who leads a highly specialized unit made up of experts in air, fire and water rescue.”

Tribune has picked up the series for a 2-year order order with a 104-week guarantee. “We are very happy that first-run scripted programming is back in syndication,” said Sean Compton, President of Programming and Entertainment at Tribune.

The first 20 eps of “Rescue 3” premiere Fall 2013.
