Episode VIII bits : J.J’s regrets, returning characters, theories

JJ Abrams has apparently muttered to his pals that the script for “Star Wars Episode VIII” is so good… he regrets departing his post.

According to friend and “Force Awakens” actor Greg Grunberg, Abrams was bowled over by Rian Johnson’s script for the next chapter in the Skywalker saga.

“He read it [the Episode VIII script] and said something he never, ever says. He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’ He may have said something one time on Lost, with Damon [Lindelof, the co-creator], but I never hear him express regret like that.”

Meanwhile, Gwendoline Christie says her Captain Phasma – from “The Force Awakens” –will be back for the next movie.

“She makes a lot of impact but she’s not at the forefront of the action all the time. She’s an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word.”

As for who else from the first instalment of the new trilogy that’s returning for the next movie? According to producer Kathleen Kennedy, everyone – – and that might include Harrison Ford (though, granted, she may have just said that to prevent the spoiler from getting out).

Also, for those keen on reading some fun theories about what we might be able to expect from Episode VIII, /Film has put together a nice assortment of bits – including a clever suggestion that Rey might actually be related to Obi-Wan Kenobi and not Luke Skywalker.
