Evans joins Midway, Kirby boards Fast & Furious spin-off

“Fast & Furious 6” and “Beauty and the Beast” star Luke Evans has joined the cast of Roland Emmerich’s “big-budget World War II action movie “Midway”, says THR.

Evans, who joins co-stars Mandy Moore and Woody Harrelson on the Montreal-lensed set shortly, will play Commander Wade McClusky, who would go on to win a Naval Cross for his role in Midway.

The film, of course, fixes on the famed Battle of Midway, considered a turning point in America’s battle against Japan.

Lionsgate will distribute the film domestically via their Summit Entertainment banner.

Meantime, “The Crown”‘s Vanessa Kirby is joining the cast of the untitled “Fast & Furious” spin-off set to star Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

That movie, directed by David Leitch, and penned by franchise screenwriter Chris Morgan, sees Hobbs and Shaw teaming up on a mission.
