Haven’t ever got into the films myself, they’re a little too wordsy for my liking (I have no patience for anything ‘smart’, it seems), but I do know our own Clint Morris is a huge fan of the Tom Clancy books and the feature films that have derived from them – like “The Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games”. No doubt he’ll be front and center for this one, “Jack Ryan” – the prequel to the films that have come before, featuring the aforesaid character.
Chris Pine (“Star Trek”) plays the young Jack Ryan this time, with Kenneth Branagh – also the director – playing the bad guy, and the beautiful Keira Knightley playing Ryan’s wife Cathy. Kevin Costner, always good, plays a pivotal role in this new film too, and word is his character will get his own spin-off sometime in the future.
It tells us nothing, and won’t be liking splashed across the front page of The Courier Mail tomorrow, but here’s the first still from the film, featuring our hero riding down the streets of Manhattan :
