Gary Oldman wants Benedict Cumberbatch (“Star Trek Into Darkness”) and Ralph Fiennes (“Skyfall”) for his next directorial effort “Flying Horse”, according to The Wrap.
The film, which Oldman also wrote, is a biopic of photographer Eadweard Muybridge.
Oldman is yet to garner financing for the project, but if he does he’d like to contract the abovementioned thesps for the film. The “JFK” and “Batman Begins” actor would also play an on-camera role himself.
Says the outlet :
Muybridge is famous for pioneering technological advances in photography and motion-capturing imagery, which were essential in the development of motion picture filmmaking.
Oldman has already written the script, which focuses on the courtship and love affair between Muybridge’s wife, Flora, and Harry Larkyns, a famous theater critic killed by Muybridge.
Oldman aims to cast his recent co-stars Ralph Fiennes as Muybridge and Benedict Cumberbatch as Larkyns.
Oldman may also play a small role as Dennis Spencer, the district attorney that prosecuted Muybridge. Muybridge wound up being acquitted of the crime.
Acting-wise, Oldman – whose previous directing effort “Nil By Mouth” was widely well-received – next appears in the Robert Luketic-directed “Paranoia”; in 2014, he’ll be seen in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “RoboCop”.
