James Garner (1928-2014)

Sad day; the legendary James Garner has passed away at the age of 86.

Though the cause of death is unknown at this time, TMZ says an ambulance was dispatched to the actor’s home about 8pm on Saturday night, but he was sadly gone by the time they arrived.

Garner, best known for his long-running roles on “Maverick” and “The Rockford Files”, had had a severe stroke in 2008.

In addition to his TV work (which also included “8 Simple Rules” and “Chicago Hope”), Garner has appeared in a multitude of films including “The Thrill of It All”, “Move Over”, “Murphy’s Romance”, “The Great Escape”, “Grand Prix” and popular weepie “The Notebook”. Garner also returned for the 1994 feature “Maverick” starring opposite Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster.

There won’t be another James Garner.
