Director of this year’s standout thriller “Get Out” Jordan Peele is putting on the hat of executive producer for HBO series “Lovecraft Country”. The straight-to-series production will be based on the 2016 book of the same name by Matt Ruff. The dark fantasy novel is set in 1950s America, and explores the themes of racism and horror.
The basic plot of “Lovecraft Country” sees 25 year old Atticus Black embark on a roadtrip with his friend Leitita and uncle George to find his missing father.
Deadline reports that Peele will team up with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Misha Green as executive producers. Peele’s success broke out following his Comedy Central series “Key and Peele” and recently saw great success following his low-budget flick “Get Out” grossing $215 million.
No word yet on casting or release date, but it looks like this one could be another win for Jordan Peele, as it deals with themes yet unseen on television.
