Lionsgate is in talks to take over Jay Roach’s all-star Roger Ailes biopic recently discarded by Annapurna Pictures.
The latter canned the project, about the disgraced Fox News Channel chief, when the budget soared north of $35M. Set cast includes John Lithgow as Ailes, Malcolm McDowell as News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch, Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly, Margot Robbie is Kayla Pospisil, and Nicole Kidman is Gretchen Carlson.
According to Deadline, who had the news on the near-done deal with Lionsgate, Amblin and Focus Features had also taken a look at the project before passing.
