Lt. Frank Drebin back on duty?

“Naked Gun” and “Airplane!” getting the sequel treatment?

A couple of days back it was announced that Paramount was getting busy with direct-to-video sequels, tapping Louis Feola to head up the new department. I didn’t think it was worth mentioning, because the announcement didn’t mention any of the films that might be getting the sequel treatment…

Today, Variety ran an update, mentioning a couple of the films that could be on the way.

According to the site, Paramount are said to be looking at doing direct-to-video sequels to “The Naked Gun” and “Airplane!”. That news should please David Zucker, the chap behind those films, because he’s been trying to convince the studio to make them for years. Don’t know what he’ll think of them going direct-to-DVD though… and can’t imagine Leslie Nielsen being over the moon about that, either.
