Matthew Modine joins the cast of “Weeds”

Struggling 80s icon looking for a way to start paying the bills again?

Head to the Box.

Taking a cue from Eric Roberts (“Heroes”), 80s superstar Matthew Modine (“Full Metal Jacket”, “Memphis Belle”, “Married to the Mob”) has signed on to a TV series; he’ll join Showtime’s “Weeds”.

According to Variety, the actor – the fool who passed on the role of ‘Maverick’ in “Top Gun”! – will play Sullivan, a real estate developer building a development adjacent to the skein’s fictional town of Agrestic. The development is being funded by a church.

Both Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) will have romantic hook-ups with Modine’s character. Nancy will also end up getting a job working for him.

Modine’s last major film appearance was in 2005’s “The Transporter 2” so the TV thing sounds like it’s a blessing for him.
