Mission: Impossible 5 to hit screens July 31

Tom Cruise will be gracing our screens significantly earlier than expected.

Paramount has moved director Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible 5” forward from Christmas to July 31, 2015.

The five month push will now see the film open against Jake Gyllenhaal boxing drama “Southpaw,” Warner Bros.’ “Point Break” remake and Focus’ Ryan Reynolds sci-fier “Selfless.”

Perhaps the studio is hoping “Mission 5” will take off at the box office this year. The film’s new release slot puts it set to open on the same weekend as last summer’s top grosser; “Guardians of the Galaxy”.

Paramount’s animated flick “Monster Trucks” has filled the Christmas slot, pushed back from an original release date of May 29.
