Disney is getting the ball rolling on its “Nutcracker” movie, with Morgan Freeman now in negotiations to star.
Youngster Mackenzie Foy was recently announced in the lead role with Misty Copeland attached as the lead ballerina.
According to THR, Freeman is in line to play the mysterious Drosselmeyer character.
Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, the live-action film is titled “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” and will be directed by Lasse Hallström from Ashleigh Powell’s script.
Mark Gordon is producing with Lindy Goldstein executive producing.
