As most know, I’m really hard pressed this week…. But with Holden distraught that there was no Mailbag up yesterday, and therefore he couldn’t share his ideas with Hollywood execs, I thought I better answer a few queries. Bigger one next week. Promise.
Q.This is my first time writing you Clint so I want to say I enjoy your site, keeps me posted on movies and such. I just read your article about the whole ‘Jaws’ ordeal and MY GOD! I’m fresh out the Navy and I really want to get into the ‘Hollywood business’ writing, acting, directing, and your post about the moron’s in Hollywood crack me up and keeps me informed with the moron’s I’ll have to deal with on a daily basis so when I actually get there I’ll know what to expect and have SOME idea of how to deal with them. Q.Hey again. Funny how after I posted news on both ‘Ghostbusters 3’and ‘Jaws 5’ comes out. G3 might happen. I wanted to say I doubt ‘Jaws 5’ will happen – why you ask? Simple, every 2 years we get a ‘Jaws 5’ rumour – the last one was at Jaws fest 2005 Spielberg and Dreyfuss were both back and gotlieb was writing it – and nothing happens. These rumours come every 2 years and than sink back into the ocean. Though for more curiosity’s sake Any truth to the rumour or legit sources. Also Eddie Murphy said in a recent interview on Entertainment Tonight i’ll do the film if the script is good”. Enjoy – Chad

Q.RE: Jaws 5. WTF? I just watched the original ‘Jaws’ last week – Classic!!! I tend to forget that 3 and 4 were never made but GOD! Why? Just because it’s direct to DVD does it have to be shitty! Universal has a perfectly undermined gem of a franchise they should be working on – Serenity! Let’s get a ‘Serenity 2’ to DVD – and not F with classics like ‘Jaws’. – Aaron

Q.Hey Clint, Read your article about the ‘Jaws 5’ thing. Man what are these people thinking. You know, people should just leave shit alone if they can’t do something right. Anyway, I am a Steve Alten Fan and if they were going to make a bad ass shark movie it should be about his book “Meg” you can check it out here: http://www.stevealten.com He was in works for a movie, but it seems New Line Cinema would rather make shit movies like “Code Name: The Cleaner 2” or a crappy “Hairspray” remake…basically “MTSA” Movies That Suck Ass. Nah, she’d promised to get Perry some cigarettes from the cafeteria so could only do a cameo… um, anyway… Graham next appears in “Evan Almighty”, in a much bigger part, opposite the wildly funny Steve Carell. She’s also executive producing a couple of telemovies at the moment, but as far as I know, she’s not in them.
Q.First time writing and this is a question for the mailbag. Nope it’s not about any MAJOR production or about lady cruise, my question is about New Mad Mission. Anchor bay released a 4 pack some years ago and while I was searching for it I found there was a New Mad mission flick released 6 of September 2006 on dvd…in France heres the link Amazon.fr. Any Idea if it’s coming to the states and if this is just some sort of direct to dvd release?
By the way, Is there any chance, or miracle that would make Mr.80s in furry pants himself get his own movie? You know He-Man!!! John Cena could play that 80’s he man that gets shirtless once he transforms. What happened to the ‘Voltron’ movie? Ps: I hope Alvin and the chipmunks don’t sing reggaeton in their movie. A. Give me some witch doctor and an uptown girl. Um, yeah. question overload. No word on the new ‘Mad Mission’ release, but I assume it’ll go direct to DVD here, from Anchor Bay too. As for the “He-Man” movie, not much to tell at the moment, but there is a film in development. You can keep tabs on it at the IMDB page.
Q.OH MY GOD! How stupid are the wb? I mean did they see ‘Fantastic Four’? That was tackled by some second rate director who brought us the ‘Taxi’ remake.. Now the wb have hired the director of the ‘Pink Panther’ remake over the writer of ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Blade’.. I’ soo scared to who they’ll hire for ‘Wonder Woman’.. Hopefully someone will leak both Whedon ‘n Goyers scripts!! – Alex

Q.Its stupid of Warner for turning on Katie Holmes and some of the media’s bashfest is greatly exaggerated and downright mean. Even their replacements don’t make me care much. With Katie she can also bring a lot to this movie and makes ‘The Dark Knight’ a must see movie kinda like couch jumping worthy. Peace out – Marlon

A. I hope he does return to acting, I miss seeing him on the silver screen too. I hear he might have accepted an acting role in Gregor Jordan’s next film, “Under and Alone”, so hopefully that comes off.

Q.Seriously though, and this is my last thought on the subject. Why don’t they just write Tom Cruise wife’s part out of the film, I thought it was only for about 10 minutes anyway? The people making this film are big boys and they must know how much this bites and how much it will piss people off. What are your thoughts am I getting my knickers in a twist over nought? – Scott
A. OK. Last thought. Ever. On this topic. The character has to stay in the script…. It has too…. Because although Rachel Dawes is only a small part of the film, she’s a pivotal part… you’ll see why when the movie comes out. Lets just say, she’ll be responsible for the Bat’s motivation for a lot of the film – – – and beyond.
Q.Would like to hear more on ‘Jurassic Park 4’, please send me as much info as you can on it, am a huge fan of the stuff, and want to know if there is anyway to get insider info on the plans and production of the movie! Thanks – Tom

Nothing else has been released yet, and I’m kinda scared to say anything else about the movie…. those rabid Russell Crowe fans seem to come out of the woodwork anytime you mention his name in any capacity. Thinking about teaming up with Dennis Quaid. Now tell me, did you send your script to anyone yet?
