2012 will be the year of the fairytale – two “Snow White” movies are on their way, a couple of “Hansel & Gretel” flicks, and then there’s the movie where Jason Segel scores Emily Blunt. Oh, and, of course, “Jack the Giant Killer”.
Based on the timeless tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Giant Killer” is the brainchild of “X-Men” and “Superman Returns” alum Bryan Singer and features Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men : First Class:”) in the title role, with Ewan McGregor (“Star Wars : Episode One – The Phantom Menace”), Ian McShane (“Snow White and the Huntsman”), Stanley Tucci (“The Hunger Games”), Warwick Davis (“Willow”), Bill Nighy (“Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man’s Chest”), Eddie Marsan (“Sherlock Holmes”) and Ewen Bremner (“Alien Vs. Predator”).
Written by Christopher McQuarrie (“The Usual Suspects”), the movie tells of the long-standing peace between men and giants being threatened when as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.
