Beloved character actor Ed Lauter, known for his roles in such films as “Seabiscuit” and “Raw Deal”, has passed away aged 74.
Lauter discovered in May that he had contracted mesothelioma, a terminal form of cancer most commonly caused by exposure to asbestos, THR reports.
In addition to a slew of TV credits (including “E.R” and “Shameless”), Lauter has appeared in many films, including “Youngblood”, “Revenge of the Nerds II : Nerds in Paradise”, “Real Genius”, “French Connection II”, “Thirteen Days”, “Starship Troopers 2 : Hero of the Federation” and “The Rocketeer”.
Lauter, who still has three films to hit theaters, appeared in last year’s “Trouble with the Curve” opposite Clint Eastwood.
