Scout rubbing sticks together for Halloween

The new Laurie Strode is found!

And for a moment there I thought he might announce Sid Haig as having been cast as Laurie Strode.

Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” has found its contemporary equivalent to Jamie Lee Curtis – or rather, the role she made her own in four “Halloween” movies – in newcomer Scout Taylor-Compton. She will play the lead role of Laurie Strode in the remake.

Yes, that’s right. Not the perky Blonde cheerleader from “Heroes”. Not Agnes Bruckner. And Not – you already know this, since she’s been cast as another character in the pic – Danielle Harris. Instead, Zombie has gone for even lesser known name – a chickie whose filmography consists – well, the meat of it anyway; a lot of it is ADR work – of little more than a role in the pre-teen comedy “Sleepover” and the upcoming “An American Crime”.

The name may sound familiar to you. A couple of years back, Scout Taylor-Compton was in the news for another reason:

Missing Teen Actress Found
26 August 2005 (WENN)
Teen actress Scout Taylor-Compton has been found at a friend’s house in California, two weeks after going missing. The 16-year-old Sleepover actress was last seen at her home in the Southern California community of Apple Valley on August 12 and was recently placed on the police missing persons register. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Robin Haynal says, “We received a tip from the Apple Valley School Police that she was at a house in Apple Valley. We sent a deputy over there, picked her up and took her to the station.” Haynal believes that Taylor-Compton, who lives with her father and stepmother, left after a family disagreement. She was in good condition and cooperated with police. Haynal adds, “She was a runaway juvenile. She just didn’t want to be found. She hasn’t been harmed at all and she appears to be fine.”

Teenage Actress Reported Missing
25 August 2005 (WENN)
Teenage actress Scout Taylor-Compton has been placed on the California police missing persons register list after disappearing on August 12. The Sleepover actress, who also appeared on TV show Gilmore Girls, has been reported missing by worried family members in Apple Valley, California. In a statement released earlier yesterday, the young actress’ family has thanked officials searching for her, adding, “We are praying for her safe return. We have faith in the agencies working on the case and are optimistic that the outcome will be positive.”

Yep, Zombie may have cast a wild child in the role….. and I tell ya, it’s not a bad trait to have when you’re going up against Michael ‘The Maniac’ Myers.
