The Dark Knight Rises
Two spiffy Empire magazine covers for the upcoming “Dark Knight” sequel have hit the web. One features Tom ‘Inception’ Hardy’s character, Bane, while the other features the Caped Crusader – wielding what looks to be some sort of custom-built boombox he has resting on his shoulder (‘aaah, push it.. push it good… ah, push it’…) (Empire)
Meanwhile, word is the trailer for “Dark Knight Rises” (and “The Hobbit”) may be on prints of the “Sherlock Holmes” sequel this Chrissy.
Skyfall
“Bond 23” scribe John ‘Gladiator’ Logan (who notes how amazing it was to be asked to write the film for his long-time friend, Sam Mendes) has commented on rumours that the new film will be a stand-alone movie not connected to the previous two Daniel Craig chapters. “It has nothing to do with being a standalone film, as far as I’m concerned, because I don’t think these films are standalone, I think they’re part of a legacy. When I was working on it I was deeply aware as much of Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale as I was of Thunderball, as I was of Ian Fleming in the 50’s writing it, you know you’re a float in a parade. What was particularly thrilling about this is the freedom, because I had the fear that you would going into a franchise movie that you have to put all the toys back in the sandbox, but I’ve never felt anything but completely free as a writer to explore different material, to explore different ideas with these characters and this world. It’s been amongst the best experiences I’ve ever had on a movie. Mind you we’re two weeks into filming, so we’ll see.” (Collider)
Tomb Raider
Not so much a sequel as it’ll be a reboot, says producer Graham King. “We just got the script in on Tomb Raider and it’s really good. It’s something that, for me anyway, is different, you know rebooting a franchise that I didn’t produce to begin with. But there’s something about her character and going back to her roots, and that’s what we’re doing with this. You’re actually gonna meet her before she has all her powers as Lara Croft. It’s more of a character study, but it’s a really fun, fun adventure story.” King has spoken to Angelina Jolie about the film, but hasn’t asked her to appear – even in a cameo role – yet. (Collider)
