Tobin Bell returns for Saw 4 and Saw 5

But didn’t Jigsaw die?

Tobin Bell will reprise his role as the villainous ‘Jigsaw’ in the next two “Saw” movies, the actor confirmed at ShoWest this week.

Despite the fuck that his character died in the last chapter, Lionsgate have tapped the B-legend to reprise his psycho role for “Saw 4” and “Saw 4” – but have yet to explain to the actor how they’ll explain to audiences his presence in these new movies.

The actor tells ComingSoon.net that he has no idea how they’ll bring back Jigsaw – if it is indeed Jigsaw they use, and not his evil twin brother – for the next instalment of the corn syrup-drenched franchise.

“It’s difficult for me to comment on something I haven’t read so I don’t know what they’re going to do or how they’re going to do it. Hollywood’s amazing; they come up with all kinds of ways to accomplish things. If I knew I’d tell you, but I don’t. In some ways, it’s a blessing.”

Co-Producer Oren Koules said Bell has been slipped a couple of hints, though. “Tobin knows some clues and what to tell the fans is that there are three or four scenes in ‘Saw III’ that seem very innocuous and benign but when you see ‘Saw IV’ and they flash back to those, they have a whole different meaning. We shot scenes for ‘Saw III’, knowing they’d be in ‘IV.’ We knew what we wanted to do for ‘IV’ so we actually shot scenes for ‘III’ but tried to make them very innocent scenes that didn’t really make sense, but when it comes back, it’s a huge part about ‘Saw IV.'”

Ya know what? I couldn’t care less. I know, it sounds rough, but I think I’m done with this series. “Saw 3” drove me tears – well, not quite as much as sitting through the fuckin’ “The Holiday” did – and really, I can think what’s left to do with this series. It’s as done as the Hoff’s TV career.

I guess, all I can think of is that the filmmakers have decided to make the next two “Saw” films prequels. But on the other hand, Koules’ comments above, suggesting that there’s a moment in “Saw 3” that would explain Jigsaw’s existence in the next one, indicates that that’s not the case – and it’ll be just another straight-up sequel. So, by the sounds, they’ll simply just bring back Jigsaw, explain how he ‘didn’t actually die’, and have him play a couple more of his games…. Doesn’t sound like they’re thinking too much out of the box at all.

The film starts shooting in April, and hits theatres in October (no wonder they’ve never got any time to come up with anything good for these movies – the filming to screening turnaround is too damn quick). Darren Lynn Bousman (who’d probably be just as rich, if not richer, than original “Saw” scribes James Wan and Leigh Whannell) is again directing.
