Cue the snow (geddit?).
Ahead of next week’s premiere, Fox has released a featurette and a bunch of new stills from the newest season – like the chickie from Stranger Things writes on her homework, Eleven -of “The X-Files”.
Hitting the box January 3rd, the second round of a comeback that kicked off in 2015 sees Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny reuniting with former comrades Mitch Pileggi, William B.Davis, Lauren Ambrose, Chris Owens, Robbie Amell and Annabeth Gish for another conspiracy-ladden batch of eps. Barbara Hershey and Haley Joel Osment are among the guest stars. Oh, and it’s already ‘out there’, but some are likely going to be delighted by an appearance by someone we long thought dead…
There’s also rumors of another surprise reappearance…
But from all accounts the ‘guest stars’ and ‘surprise appearances’ isn’t the only thing this round has going for it. Word is, this eleventh season is shaping up to be a vast improvement of 2015’s season – what with Chris Carter opting not to captain every episode and old pros like Darin and Chris Morgan writing eps, as well as a nice mix of mythology eps and stand-alone monster of the week eps. Might it be a cast of “X-Files” saving the best for last?
A couple of days before Christmas, series star Gillian Anderson took to Instagram to hint that this might be her last season as Agent Dana Scully. One can only assume, if the upcoming season is successful, that Fox will want to continue but it could be without its lead duo – or will they? maybe they’re happy for this to be the swansong of the brand? Seems unlikely, since it’s been quite the money-spinner for Fox (and Disney, the new owners, do love their money-spinning franchises), but all – including the producers – might all be planning to make an exit simultaneously, and with a bang. Guess they’ll reveal all after this next season airs.
