Armie Hammer says he’s not Batman

Armie Hammer has officially responded to rumors that he’s up for the role of Batman in director Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated Caped Crusader reboot.

The “Call Me By Your Name” actor, appearing on The Tonight Show, said he hasn’t even been approached to play the part.

“This is the thing about rumors. They’re all fine, they’re all well and good, but none of the people who start rumors are actually the people who can give you jobs,” Hammer said before admitting that he’d be keen on the gig.

“Who wouldn’t want to be Batman?” he said. “It’s a good gig.”

Now, of course, Hammer could indeed have spoken to the studio and Reeves but has been told to keep mum. It’s happened before.

Ben Affleck stepped down from playing the lead in Reeves’ new Batman movie in January. The film, reportedly now looking for a young actor to fill the cowl, is skedded for a June 25, 2021 release.
