Ash counts down 2013’s most pirated movies

The time has come to find out which movies we’ve all been checking out online.

TorrentFreak’s list of the most pirated films of 2013 has been revealed, placing “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” in the number one spot.
The list hosts a number of big name films, the top three rounded out by “Django Unchained”, in number two, and “Fast and Furious 6”, coming in third.
Interestingly, “Gangster Squad” came in at number 7, despite grossing significantly less at the box office than the rest of the films that feature on the list.

There are also some notable absentees, including “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, which could be attributed to the films’ later release dates.
Once again, the piracy debate continues. The US box office is set to close with $11 billion in revenues, making 2013 its best year in history. That would suggest that piracy is not necessarily having a negative impact. Nevertheless, the impact on DVD and blu ray sales may be more drastically affected.

Regardless of which side of the debate you find yourself on, you can find the full list of the most pirated films of 2013 below.
