Avengers star to headline Braveheart sequel?

Marvel movie regular Tom Hiddleston will star in a sequel to Mel Gibson’s “Braveheart”, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.

The “Thor” actor has reportedly signed to play Scotland’s warrior king Robert the Bruce in the upcoming film, entitled ”Lion Rampant”.

The news was unearthed via exposed Wikileaks emails, says the site. Details on the film were found in an email exchange between former head of Sony Entertainment Amy Pascal and Rich Klubeck, a senior partner in a leading American talent agency.

“It is the story that follows on in history from Braveheart”, Klubeck said in an email. “It is an epic tale of action and romance.”

David Mackenzie would direct the film, which would film in Scotland. Jack O’Connell and Emma Stone’s names (an offer has gone out to the “Amazing Spider-Man” actress, according to the emails) have been floated in relation to co-starring roles.
