Up until Helen Mirren boarded, you could almost guess new casting additions on the “Fast and Furious” franchise.
While most newbies aboard the series – be it Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, John Cena or Jason Statham – are known for their work in the action genre, now and then the producers like to surprise us with an out-of-the-box addition.
Such is the case with the latest “F9 : The Fast Saga” casting rumor.
According to Page Six, funnyman Ben Stiller is filming a role – that’s right, the film is complete but he’s still to shoot his part – in the Justin Lin directed actioner.
“Page Six is told that Ben Stiller will have a role in the latest installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise. Even though the “Zoolander” star isn’t exactly known for his high-octane petrol-head performances, we’re told that Stiller is due to begin shooting scenes for “F9” soon.”
Stiller has appeared in quite a few dramas, and he’s even played villains in a couple of comedic thrillers (anyone remember ‘80s flick “Hot Pursuit”, with John Cusack!?), but I think it’s safe to say nobody expected he’d be keen, let alone approached for a role in this particular franchise.
Is there any truth to the report?
Stiller himself says no.
“Reports of my Fast and Furiosness are greatly exaggerated. Meaning not at all true, sadly. Though I wish them well with the franchise. Fingers crossed it takes off. #FastAndFurious #PageSixIsAmazing”.
