Billy Crystal returning to TV

Billy Crystal (“Soap”) is headed back to TV.

Crystal is teaming with seasoned TV specialists Larry Charles (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”) to develop a an edgy TV comedy series which the “City Slickers” star will headline, co-write and executive produce.

Charles and Crystal are co-writing with comedy writer-producer Ben Wexler, who co-wrote with the latter to fun Fox pilot “The Good Guys”.

The FOX TV Studios project, currently without title, will hit the marketplace next week, according to Deadline.

Crystal last appeared in the comedy “Parental Guidance” with Bette Midler.
