De Niro headed to Gaghan’s Candy Store

Robert De Niro will wear the blues again in a crime drama from “Traffic” scribe Stephen Gaghan.

The actor’s welcome return to the genre, “Candy Store”, co-written and to be helmed by Gaghan, “is set in the Brooklyn underworld where a former covert ops agent discovers the organization he has been fighting over his career has set up shop in his backyard. He teams with a former cop to stop the threat that could endanger the city of New York” according to Variety.

Jason Clarke and Omar Sy also star in the film. De Niro plays the cop.

Gaghan, whose next film as writer is Will Smith vehicle “After Earth” , wrote the script with Shannon Burke.
