Brooke : 5 Actors that nearly ended up starring in The Hunger Games series

This month we celebrate the impending arrival of cinema’s second round in those fierce Hunger Games,  so seems the perfect opportunity to dig through those old stories and ponder just how much different the film/s might’ve been had the film not landed the cast it did. Here’s ten actors that were considered for roles in Lionsgate’s successful movie saga.

1 Emma Roberts – Katniss

The “Scream 4” and “We’re the Millers” actress – also the niece of ‘Pretty Woman’ Julia Roberts – was an early favourite for the role of Katniss.  Roberts was atop of a long-list of names that also featured Haleee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz and Saorise Ronan.

2 Hunter Parrish – Peeta

The former “Weeds” star was up for the role of Peeta, but being the lesser known of those in contention, not to mention his ongoing commitment to the TV show, his chances always seemed slim.

3 Lyndsy Fonseca – Katniss

“Kick-Ass” star Fonesca – also known for her roles in such films as “Hot Tub Time Machine” and TV’s “Nikita” – came close to snagging the role of the trilogy’s heroine.

4 Robbie Ammel – Gale

Ammel, brother of Arrow’s Stephen Amel, was best known for playing ‘Fred’ in a series of straight-to-telly ‘Scooby Doo’ movies at the time.  He currently stars in the US drama series “The Tomorrow People”.

5 Taylor Kitsch – Finnick Odair

TV star (“Friday Night Lights”) turned instant film star (“John Carter”, “Battleship”) Kitsch was one of the early favourites to play the dashing Finnick. Others said to have been approached for the role include Armie Hammer (“Lone Ranger”) and Garrett Hedlund (“Tron Legacy”).
