Casting: Krasinski, A Wrinkle In Time, Clarke, Nashville

John Krasinski is the latest to board Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit Riots drama, reports THR.

John Boyega, Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Algee Smith, Ben O’Toole, Jack Reynor, Jason Mitchell, Kaitlyn Dever and Hannah Murray are also in the cast of the film which has a script by Mark Boal.

While plot details remain under wraps, we know the project is a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the devastating riots that took place in Detroit over five summer days in 1967.

 

 

Young actress Storm Reid is set to star in Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic children’s book “A Wrinkle in Time”.

DuVernay is directing the Disney film which has a script by Jennifer Lee. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are attached to the project.

According to THR, the Newbery Medal-winning book centers on Meg Murry, a young girl traumatized by the disappearance of her scientist father years before. She finds herself on an interplanetary journey with a schoolmate and her younger brother to find her father. They are aided by a trio of supernatural beings, Mrs. Whatsit (Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (Kaling) and Mrs. Which (Winfrey).

 

 

Jason Clarke is in negotiations to join Helen Mirren in the CBS Films thriller “Winchester”.

Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig are directing the film from the screenplay the penned with Tom Vaughan.

According to Variety, the film follows firearm heiress Sarah Winchester (Mirren), who’s convinced that she’s haunted by the souls killed at the hands of the Winchester repeating rifle. After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, she throws herself into the construction of an enormous mansion designed to keep the evil spirits at bay. But when skeptical San Francisco psychiatrist Eric Price (Clarke) is dispatched to the estate to evaluate her state of mind, he discovers that her obsession may not be so insane after all.

 

 

Jen Richards has joind CMT’s “Nashville” as the network’s first-ever openly transgender character and actress.

Richards will play Allyson Del Lago, a tough but understanding physical therapist who helps one of the show’s main characters through one of their most difficult challenges.

“Nashville” will make its CMT debut with a special two-hour premiere on Thursday, January 5 at 9PM.
