Kevin Bacon has joined “Patriots Day”, director Peter Berg’s Boston Marathon Bombing film.
Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, James Colby and Vincent Curatola are also in the film which has a script by Matt Charman based on the account of former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.
Bacon will play FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers.
The movie will open on December 21, 2016.
Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”) is in talks to star in and produce Warner Bros’ “Man-Witch”.
The long-in-development comedy centres on “a schoolteacher (Parsons) who abruptly discovers he’s got witchlike powers. A coven of real witches takes him in, promptly sending him to “witch school,” where he is the lone adult, surrounded by little girl witches-in-training” (via THR).
Iain Glen (“Game of Thrones”) and Simon Russell Beale have joined Rachel Weisz, Sam Claflin and Holliday Grainger in Fox Searchlight’s “My Cousin Rachel” remake.
The dark romance will be directed by Roger Michell and centres on a young Englishman who believes his cousin murdered his guardian. But as he plots his revenge, he falls under the spell of the mysterious, beautiful woman’s charms.
The story is based on the 1951 Daphne Du Maurier novel.
Sam Keeley, Melissa Leo, Kal Penn, Hera Hilmar and Radhika Apte are starring in “The Ashram”, an “English-language spiritual fantasy thriller set in the mystical world of Himalayan yogis” (via Deadline).
“After receiving a cryptic message, American skeptic Jamie (Keeley) travels to the Indian Himalayas to pick up on the trail of his disappeared girlfriend. There, he discovers a secretive community led by a guru with strange powers who may or may not be involved in her disappearance. As Jamie travels deeper down the rabbit hole, he quickly realizes he may have uncovered more than he bargained for, and that this mysterious mountain may contain the secrets of reincarnation — and a portal to another dimension.”
