In casting news, child actor Josh Wiggins has landed the lead in MGM’s real-life inspired “Max”.
The family adventure is directed by Boaz Yakin and centres on an ex-military dog who is adopted by his late handler’s family. The Marine’s 14-year-old brother bonds with the dog and together they uncover the truth about his brother’s death.

Melissa Hart has also secured a new project, set to join Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Jude Law and Jason Statham in Paul Feig’s untitled spy comedy. Due for release in 2015, filming will begin on Monday in Budapest.

Mel Gibson is in talks to star in “Blood Father”. The thriller will be directed by Jean-Francois Richet and follows an ex-con who tracks down his estranged 16-year-old daughter to save her from rouge drug dealers who are trying to kill her.

In TV news, Kelly Brook and Chris Williams have joined the cast of NBC’s pilot “One Big Happy”.
The comedy will follow two childhood friends and roommates Lizzy (Elisha Cuthbert), a lesbian, and Luke, (Nick Zano) who is straight, as they endeavour to have a baby together. Just as they finally get pregnant Luke meets and impulsively marries a British woman, Prudence (Brook). To avoid her deportation, Prudence goes through with the marriage and finds herself thrust into Lizzy and Luke’s unusual family unit. Williams will play a former college football player, now a married man, who misses the freedom of his old party lifestyle.

Dana Delany has also found a new home in drama pilot “Hand of God”. The two-time Emmy winner will join Ron Perlman in the Marc Forster directed pilot for Amazon Studios. She will play the wife of hard-living, law-bending Judge Harris Pernell (Perlman) who has a religious awakening, having visions and hearing voices through his son.
