Armie Hammer (“The Lone Ranger”) has joined the cast of Nate Parker’s “The Birth of a Nation”. The movie stars Parker as Nat Turner, an African-American slave turned revolutionary who led a rebellion in 1831 and went down in history as one of history’s most controversial American figures. Hammer is playing Samuel Turner, the son of Nat’s first master Benjamin Turner. (Deadline)

Britt Robertson (“Tomorrowland”) has joined the cast of Eddie Murphy drama “Cook”. Murphy plays a chef hired by a dying man to make meals for his girlfriend and daughter (Robertson) after he passes. The Chef was only originally hired to cook for six months, but ended up ingrained in the family’s lives for 15 years. (Deadline)

Musical drama “Geezer” has added Judy Greer, Fred Armisen and Selma Blair to it’s cast. The Lee Kirk directed movie tells of a father who is going through a midlife crisis and decides to throw the rock party of all rock parties at a prestigious hotel. Billie Joe Armstrong stars. (Variety)
