Casting : Rogen, Eichner, Robbie, Smith, Schumer

The ”Lion King” live-action reboot is making more headway with the announcement of Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan to voice Timon and Pumbaa respectively. We’ve already had word that Donald Glover will be Simba, and James Earl Jones to reprise the role of Mufasa. As previously reported, Beyonce is also being eyed for the role of Nala.

Margot Robbie is set to embrace her inner royal, being cast as Queen Elizabeth in an upcoming feature film – “Mary Queen of Scots”. That is, Queen Elizabeth I, not the one who’s married to Prince Philip, the man without a filter. The role of Queenie has previously been played by Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for an Oscar for the two times she portrayed her.

In another Disney reboot, “Aladdin” is getting the live-action treatment, and sights have been set on Will Smith to voice the Genie character. Gossip around the traps was that Kevin Hart was previously offered the part, so it will be interesting to see who secures the role. Either way, both actors should be able to give the Genie a bit of sass and attitude, similar to when Robin Williams voiced the character in the 1992 original cartoon.

After recently dropping out of the live-action “Barbie” movie, Amy Schumer has scored herself a role in “I Feel Pretty”, and upcoming movie from Wonderland Sound & Vision and Voltage Pictures. The movie’s plot has been kept under wraps in the meantime, but is said to begin filming this summer on the USA’s East Coast. The script was written and will be directed by Abby Kohn and Mark Silverstein.
