Cate Blanchett back for The Hobbit

Cate Blanchett will reprise her role as Galdariel, the character she played in the three “Lord of the Rings” movies, for “The Hobbit”.

“Cate is one of my favorite actors to work with and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her reprise the role she so beautifully brought to life in the earlier films”, director Peter Jackson says of the Aussie thesp.

Now I could be wrong, but I don’t believe Galadriel appeared in Tolkien’s book of the same name? And if I’m right, does that mean director Peter Jackson might also reintroduce some other “Rings” favourites back into the franchise that also played no part in the book’s literary source?

Also confirmed today were ”Ken Stott (Charlie Wilson’s War”) as Dwarf Lord Balin, “Doctor Who” fave Slvester McCoy (Doctor Who) as wizard Radagast the Brown, Mikael Persbrandt (“Day and Night”) as Beorn, a shapeshifter, “Outlaw” star Ryan Gage is playing Drogo Baggins, Jed Brophy (”The Lord of the Rings”) is the dwarf Nori and William Kircher is the dwarf Bifur.
