Cats movie adaptation to be directed by Tom Hooper

Universal and Working Title have set Tom Hooper to direct and produce a film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s renowned musical “Cats”.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce for Working Title with Debra Hayward and Hooper.

The musical “Cats” centers on a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who must decide nightly which one will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. It’s based on T.S. Eliot’s poetry collection “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”.
