Chip n’ Dale : Movie Stars!

They brought The Muppet’s back. They’re bringing The Winter Soldier to the big screen. They are dusting off Luke Skywalker for a reprise. Now, Disney are looking at relaunching the careers of adventurous critters Chip N’ Dale : Rescue Rangers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has sparked a pitch by Robert Rugan that would see Chip N’ Dale take to the big screen in a fun, live-action/CGI hybrid – a’la “Yogi Bear”, “Alvin & The Chipmunks” – inspired by the ’80s “Rescue Rangers” cartoon.

The show saw Chip, the brains behind the pair, and Dale, the goofball, running a detective agency and helping animal clients. Disney made three seasons’ worth of shows that then ran in syndication for the next decade on The Disney Channel.

Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing; this is the duo behind the “Muppets” relaunch, suggesting we might be in for a quality family flick here.
