Cinema is Doomed

“Doom” may be headed back to cinemas. Oh joy.

Rock’s out, BFG’s back in, audiences will be half-involved.

Hollywood Insider says a reboot of the 2005 film, itself based on a video game by ID entertainment, is in early development. No surprise, really. Still, we can thank the success of the similar-themed ”G.I Joe : Rise of Cobra” for the studio’s ramped up interest in the property, apparently. Though I’m sure a finger could also be wiggled in the direction of the hundreds of other video-game and comic-book movies currently in different stages in development on the other side of the hill.

”Uni is said to be script scouting for a Doom movie that’ll make full advantage of contemporary cinema’s richest weapon – er, 3D”, says the site.

Oh 3D, just go away. Please.

Makes up for the studio not doing Guillermo del Toro’s new film doesn’t it? Yeah.. nah, it doesn’t. At all.
