Caffeinated Clint
Despite what he says (and he says, despite Bill Murray’s reluctance, they’ll be shooting the film next year), I think it’s safe to say “Ghostbusters 3” hasn’t inched any closer to coming to fruition since, well, Dan Aykroyd handed in his ‘Ghostbusters from Hell’ script in the ’90s. Makes sense then that Danny should be out stumping another of his franchises in the hope that it can get up a bit easier. And considering Aykroyd himself is the only one that needs to be considered here – well, there is the widow of his late co-star from the first film – it’s definitely much more doable. Speaking of course about Aykroyd’s plans to resurrect “The Blues Brothers” (1980) as a TV series. Judy Belushi, the wife of the late, great John Belushi, is amongst the writers on the small screen project.
A pilot script, says THR, from Anne Beatts (who wrote for ”Saturday Night Live” from 1975-1980), Belushi, Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty is on it’s way to network execs’ desks with the hope that someone will quickly shake their tailfeather and give it, give it some lovinnnn.
Needless to say, the show – which will revolve around Elwood’s search for his real father – will feature new actors in the roles made famous by Aykroyd and Belushi. From the sounds of it, the events of the god-awful “Blues Brothers 2000” (the 1998 sequel that saw John Goodman stepping in for Belushi) will be mercifully overlooked.
