Dick Van Dyke returns for Mary Poppins reboot!

We’d heard that original “Mary Poppins” stars Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke had been offered roles in the newly-announced “Mary Poppins Returns” – starring the rather fitting Emily Blunt in the title role – but seems Disney now has got those deals done.

That mouse sure has sway.

Must be the cheese.

91-year-old Van Dyke told Entertainment Tonight that he’s headed to London to shoot a cameo in the new film – but he’s not playing chimney sweep Bert.

“I’ll be going to London in the spring to do my role, and I get to do a little song and dance number,” the actor explained. “I gotta be a part of it.”

Van Dyke says he’s playing the Banker in the movie.

Assumingly Andrews would also be filming a cameo. If the duo aren’t reprising their characters from the 1964 film, then hopefully Disney at least has the smarts to pair them up on the screen for the sequence rather than have their cameos filmed separately.

In addition to Blunt, “Marry Poppins Returns” stars Colin Firth, Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw.

Suggesting the dancing penguins might be returning, thus they’re going to need some time to animate their suits, the film isn’t due for release until Christmas 2018.
