Disney and Johnny Depp bringing Don Quixote to cinemas

Disney and Johnny Depp are ready to seal the deal for a new, as-yet untitled re-imagining of Don Quixote, according to Deadline.com.

The original story of Don Quixote tells the tale of hidalgo Alonso Quijano who reads so many chivalric novels that he decides to revive chivalry by creating the alias of Don Quixote. With farmer-turned-squire Sancho Panza, they find themselves trying to adopt antiquated ways in the present world.

Depp has long been intrigued with the character of Quixote; it was said that he was at one time attached to the Quixote film that Terry Gilliam was trying to make.
Steve Pink and Jeff Morris have signed on to write the project, which will be produced by both Depp and Christi Dembrowski. Work on the project is set to begin immediately.
