Disney+ is bringing King Kong to TV.
To be produced by Atomic Monster, and notably it’s head-honcho James Wan, the Stephen Folsom written project is described as “a serialized action-adventure drama that brings the classic monster story into the modern age, with a return to Skull Island and the dawn of a new Kong. The series will explore the mythology of King Kong’s origin story and the supernatural mysteries of his home based on IP from Merian C. Cooper’s original books and the new King Kong novelizations by Joe DeVito”, per Deadline.
The new “King Kong” series is merely one of several live-action TV series production houses have tried to get off the ground in recent years. A “King Kong Skull Island” series, developed about five years back, didn’t come to fruition.
