Who doesn’t love Steve Guttenberg!?
We all grew up with the guy – “Bad Medicineâ€, “Police Academyâ€, “Three Men and a Babyâ€, “Cocoonâ€, “Short Circuit”… heck, “The Boys from Brazil†(albeit not a lot of laughs in that one). And he’s great. And if you caught his performance as Mayor ‘Woody’ on “Veronica Marsâ€, you can back me up when I say the fella’s still got it!
In recent years Guttenberg’s been a bit quiet – opting instead to pursue his interest in directing; I interviewed him a couple of years back for his flick “P.S, Your Cat is Deadâ€, and he seemed rather enthusiastic about a career behind the camera – but with a guest-stint on the aforementioned “Veronica Marsâ€, and a showy role in Jessica Simpson vehicle “Private Valentineâ€, one would probably be safe to assume ‘The Gute’ has ‘the bug’ again.
In addition to the rumoured “Three Men and a Brideâ€, Guttenberg is in talks to join Mischa Barton for the comedy, “Science of Coolâ€, one of the film’s producers told Moviehole this morning.
And it’d seem this is quite a snug fit for Lassard’s finest man – “Coolâ€, it seems, is a throwback to the teen comedies of the 80s, in particular John Hughes’ “Weird Scienceâ€.
It tells the story of a couple of highschool nerds who concoct a formula that’ll turn them into studs. Barton, of course, will play an object of desire for one of the newly-attractive boys.
Fitting in with the 80s theme, the film will be directed by William Zabka – best known as the evil ‘Johnny’ from the original (and the best!) “Karate Kidâ€.
More on Guttenberg’s involvement in the film as it comes to hand!
